Hygge (pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special.

WOW !  Is FEAR a feeling you are acknowledging at the moment with all this COVID 19 creating havoc in our beautiful world?

If it is, is it controlling how you feel and act?

Never before has the world been touched by the same wand - Regardless of income, race or wealth - we have all been touched by FEAR. Corona or as we like to call it The CV - word evokes fear and interrupts our tranquillity.

Now more than ever our homes need to be a place where we feel grounded, practice gratitude, indulge and make us happy.

My favourite room to get cosy in at my place is my lounge room with all my boys around me on a soft, fluffy, warm rug. All of us in one space enjoying each others presence without the CHAOS (yes it does happen in my household.......what can you expect with 3 boys! )

Here are some Hygge tips so help you create more groundedness in your home during this season of the unknown.

We know that the world will never be the same but we can create a safe haven in our own homes by creating a little hygge.

Tip 1: Light Candles - create ambience. If candles scare you like they do me a bit (boys and fire you get the picture!!!!) create mood lighting with lamps or dimmers.

Tip 2: Add Layers - layers of textures with throws, rugs and cushions.

Tip 3: Use natural fibres and woods in your furnishings.

Tip 4: Practice gratitude - write a daily journal to record one thing per day.

Tip 5: Consciously sip your coffee, hot chocolate or tea.

Tip 6: Set the table and eat a meal together with your family.

Tip 7 : Add a rug to your room. A rug layered on flooring of any kind, even carpet will anchor your furniture in the space and create instant cosy.

Tip 8: Heat up your home - if you are lucky enough to have a fireplace your are even more Hygge!

Tip 9: Wear a chunky sweater. Check out our Jasper Knit rugs that look like your grandmas sweater.
