Ending Child Labour: GoodWeave envisions a day when no child is made to work instead of going to school, and when freedom, access to education, and the right to childhood are guaranteed.

GoodWeave is committed to ending child labour and offering educational opportunities to children in carpet weaving communities around the world.

GoodWeave fulfills its mission by creating market demand for certified child-labour-free rugs, monitoring supply chains, rescuing and educating child labourers, and providing critical services for weaving families.

What does the GoodWeave label mean?

The GoodWeave label is your assurance that;

  • No child labour
  • No bonded labour
  • No forced labour

  • was used in the making of the certified product. When you choose the GoodWeave label, your purchasing decision supports programs that educate children, provide critical services, and transform communities.

    So when you buy any rug or cushion from Oh Happy Home you can be confident that no child labour, no bonded labour and no forced labour were used to produce your rug or cushion.

    The GoodWeave label also means that a percentage of the cost of your rug supports GoodWeave's social programs in India, Nepal or Afghanistan.

    GoodWeave certified rugs are produced by licensed exporters, who have agreed to produce rugs without child labor, and allow unannounced inspections by GoodWeave.

    Did you know our fair trade ethics began with our Happy as Larry Days in Nepal and India?

    Way back in 2009 Happy as Larry the precursor to Oh Happy Home started from humble beginnings with our founder Amy felting and producing all the felt products for Happy As Larry herself.

    Today all of our felt and wool rugs and products continue to be made in Nepal and India.

    Just like Oh Happy Home, Happy as Larry Designs was committed to not using child labour and only employing workshops that offered fair wages and working conditions.

    As a business we have always been committed to putting part profits back into this incredibly poor country.

    Together with a few Nepalese Foundations we are also helping to educate marginalised children in Nepal.
